Catalyzing Electric Mobility in Brazil: CharIN and ABVE forge a strategic partnership

The collaboration between the Charging Interface Initiative (CharIN) and the Associação Brasileira do Veículo Elétrico (ABVE) signifies a focal moment in fostering international cooperation to drive the growth of electric mobility in Brazil, a key player in the Latin American region.

With the objective of encouraging the development of an interoperable electromobility market in Brazil, CharIN has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Brazilian Association of Electric Vehicles (ABVE). This partnership aims to facilitate collaboration between both entities in exchanging information and providing technical training, with a specific focus on advancing charging infrastructure.

CharIN, with over 300 members representing the entire EV charging value chain, is dedicated to the implementation of the Combined Charging System (CCS) and the Megawatt Charging System (MCS). The association's vision is to establish CCS and MCS as the global standard for charging all types of electric vehicles, ensuring reliability and user satisfaction.

ABVE aims to promote the widespread adoption of electric vehicles in Brazil to make the transport of people and cargo cleaner and more efficient. ABVE collaborates with authorities and business entities in the automotive sector to encourage the development of the market, promoting the development, demonstration, commercialization, and use of electric vehicles, while also conducting studies and research on EV technology and standards.

Through this partnership, CharIN and ABVE will collaborate on various initiatives, including information exchange, technical training, and promoting ISO 15118, the international standard for charging communication protocols.

We are excited to join forces with ABVE, marking a significant milestone in advancing electric mobility in Brazil and Latin America. Through this strategic partnership, we aim to foster collaboration, promote interoperability, and drive the adoption of electric vehicles.
Claas Bracklo, CharIN Chairman
This partnership will help us to consolidate electromobility in Brazil and Latin America, deepening the interaction of the electrical sector throughout this territory in partnership with an institution as important as CharIN. Together, we will work very hard to expand electromobility throughout the national and Latin American territories.
