CharIN V2G PKI fully legally and operationally transferred by CharIN to the experts from Irdeto.

CharIN e.V. partners with Irdeto to handover and operate the CharIN V2G PKI marking a milestone in EV charging infrastructure.

The CharIN V2G (vehicle-to-grid) PKI (public key infrastructure), a fundamental component in the electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, has been fully legally and operationally transferred by CharIN to the expert IT company, Irdeto.

Originally established as a CharIN member-funded project, the CharIN V2G PKI has achieved its objectives to create openly defined market guidelines and a Certificate Policy, as well as offering an open market solution.

The decision to handover operations to a specialized entity will also enable further services and supports an attractive market product.

Notably, the European Union's STF (Sustainable Transport Forum) has adopted the Certificate Policy of the CharIN V2G PKI as a foundational basis, highlighting its importance in shaping industry standards. Moreover, the CharIN V2G infrastructure maintains its commitment to openness and interoperability, accommodating multi-PKI environments and welcoming all stakeholders to participate.

CharIN hosts a working group, which developed the first openly and globally aligned API (application programming interface) for ecosystems, called OPNC (Open Plug & Charge Network Communication) Protocol, which will also be further developed by this open community to include proposed and required enhancements.
