Hubject and CharIN collaborate to connect CharIN PKI in Hubject Plug & Charge Ecosystem

Hubject, a global leader in eMobility solutions, and CharIN (Charging Interface Initiative Association) are proud to announce their collaboration to integrate the CharIN V2G Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) into Hubject's Plug & Charge (PnC) ecosystem, the most used global solution for Plug & Charge based on the open standard ISO15118. This landmark partnership marks a significant milestone in the advancement of Plug & Charge capabilities, providing greater convenience, security and accessibility when charging electric vehicles.

The seamless integration of the CharIN PKI into Hubject's operational ecosystem will enable the use of another PKI, from an industry-aligned CharIN project development, with its own Certificate Policy (CP), governance, and market guidelines, ensuring a reliable and user-friendly charging experience for all eMobility users. The contract between Hubject and CharIN has been signed. The implementation will be completed by the end of 2023.

"At Hubject, we believe in a market-driven approach, that allows every company to work with multiple services providers without any lock-in effect," said Christian Hahn, CEO of Hubject. "The integration of the CharIN PKI into our ecosystem allows the customers to access and manage the PnC certificates via open and globally standardized APIs based on OPNC (Open Plug & Charge Protocol). This makes the PKI more accessible and the usage of it as easy and as secure as possible.”

"After designing the V2G PKI by the CharIN members as a neutral and open V2G PKI, we are excited to see our V2G PKI integrated into Hubject's ecosystem, bringing us closer to a broader deployment and availability of an even more customer-friendly e-mobility future," said Michael Keller, board member at CharIN. "Hubject's extensive network of partners and their commitment to interoperability make them an ideal collaborator. Together, we are promoting an open and standardized charging infrastructure that will significantly benefit the eMobility community."
