Christoph Stürmer to lead the strategic transformation of CharIN Academy as new CEO

Starting January 1st, 2024, the automotive and mobility expert Christoph Stürmer will lead the transformation of CharIN Academy as CEO to become the operational backbone of the global CharIN network. Leveraging the technical team of CharIN Academy and in close cooperation with the executive board of CharIN, he will focus on promoting international charging standards and implementing new services to support the transformation to seamless electric mobility.

From 01.01.2024 onwards, Christoph Stürmer will be appointed as the new CEO of CharIN Academy in Berlin, Germany. Since 2021, CharIN Academy works as the operational entity of CharIN and organizes, among others, the popular trainings, worldwide Testivals, and special projects for CharIN.

Christoph Stürmer started his career in the automotive industry at Daimler-Benz AG in 1996, where he developed long-term powertrain and product portfolio strategies, including electric vehicles. After 12 years as the industry analyst and forecaster IHS Automotive (now S&P Mobility), he headed PricewaterhouseCooper’s automotive think tank Autofacts® as Global Lead Analyst. He now joins CharIN Academy from Vindelici Advisors, a mid-sized consultancy, where he founded the Automotive advisory practice. “CharIN is at the heart and core of the global automotive transformation and is pivotal in realizing cooperation between all participants in the electric mobility space. As one of the first to systematically research the strategic synergy potential between automotive, energy, transportation, and logistics, I am thrilled to drive this global transformation from a central vantage point.”

“We are delighted that Christoph Stürmer will join us to lead CharIN Academy in this decisive period,” explains Class Bracklo, Chairman of CharIN “With his industry-wide recognition and strategic foresight, he will provide great leadership in developing innovative services to our members and accelerating the global transformation to seamless electric mobility.”

In line with the overall CharIN strategy, the primary purpose of CharIN Academy is to provide in-depth know-how to scale up e-mobility and interoperable infrastructure at high momentum. However, the heart of CharIN remains in the coordination and management of Focus Groups and Task Forces for technical alignment and Testivals. Therefore, the CharIN technical team will be employed by CharIN Academy from 01.01.2024 onwards. These core topics will form the core of the new CharIN Academy, with additional business and service offerings like Conformance Test and consulting to be developed soon.
