In Part 1, the session explored the essential building blocks for HDV electrification, including standardization, regulation, and best practices. With the European Commission’s Sustainable Transport Forum Subgroup on HDV infrastructure actively preparing for next year’s AFIR review, the discussion focused on CCS and MCS technologies, use cases, user requirements, and market bottlenecks that must be addressed to enable large scale deployment.
Part 2 focused on Vehicle to Grid (V2G) technology and its growing strategic importance. As V2G moves forward across Europe, the session provided global participants with an overview of the European implementation approach, as well as insights into key challenges, expectations, and policy developments that will support V2G as part of the energy transition.
In Part 3, the topic shifted to Plug & Charge as a key enabler for a seamless user experience in electric vehicle charging. Participants explored the current state of the technology, the role of standards such as ISO15118, public key infrastructure (PKI), and the support provided by the European Commission. The session also highlighted the work of the Sustainable Transport Forum Subgroup on Plug & Charge, which is shaping the policy environment for its wider adoption.
Together, these sessions offered a comprehensive overview of where Europe stands and what is needed next to advance transport electrification through coordinated technology development and regulatory progress.
