Are EV sales really declining? — Erika Myers on the EVs for Everyone Podcast

In a special Galentine’s Day episode of the EVs for Everyone Podcast, Erika Myers, Executive Director of CharIN North America, joined Alycia Gilde of Los Angeles County and Rachael Nealer of Atlas Public Policy for a wide-ranging conversation on the real state of electric vehicle adoption, global market signals, and the role of standards in scaling vehicle-to-grid integration.

Are EV sales really slowing down? Erika pushes back on that narrative, pointing to global sales data showing EVs now account for more than 25% of vehicles sold worldwide, with major milestones reached in Europe and China. The discussion also explores the global nature of EV manufacturing and trade, and why North America cannot view electrification in isolation.

Turning to vehicle-to-grid (V2G), Erika explains in simple terms how standardized, interoperable systems reduce costs, support grid stability, and help fleets charge more strategically. Open standards, she emphasizes, are essential to scaling these solutions beyond pilot projects.
