Pionix GmbH becomes a core member of CharIN

E-Mobility powered by open source

PIONIX is a Germany based software company and initiator of EVerest, a fully featured commercial open-source software ecosystem for EV charging stations. Together with the Linux Foundation Energy, the EVerest project pursues establishing a de-facto standard that is tailor-made for commercial use due to its licensing properties and open interfaces. This ensures the urgently needed acceleration of innovation for the mobility turnaround. PIONIX is the first company to give a fully featured software solution as an open source project to the public.

EVerest is a software solution that acts as an operating system in EV charging stations, covering everything from private wallboxes, public AC charging to DC-fast chargers. With its implementation of the most commonly used protocols like OCPP 1.6+ , ModBus and ISO 15118 as well as ongoing development such as OCPP 2.0.1, EVerest enables an easy and comfortable connection to many external stakeholders. Different user interfaces and mobile applications can be purpose-built and customized per application.

We are happy to join CharIN as a core member and to connect with international stakeholders and experts all across the industry and enthusiasts network of e-mobility!

The EV charging industry is fragmented with inconsistent implementations of standards, harming customers and the whole ecosystem. We can change this with the open-source software EVerest stack, by establishing a de-facto standard for unified EV charging. Our job is not creating new standards, but taking the existing ones and sharing the whole implementation: if someone wants to incorporate this, no need to develop it themselves, they can rely on our codebase, making our implementation the de-facto standard.

That is why we are happy to join the CharIN community and are eager to utilize and extend all the work already done by CharIN members for CCS and more!

Together with CharIN we want to speed up the changes in the industry and to make the charging experience easier and faster for the electric vehicles of the future. We look forward to shaping a better world with you for a greener future!
