GiOTEC is designed to provide a permanent hub for real-time testing of interoperability between electric vehicles (EVs) and charging infrastructure. By connecting automakers, charging station manufacturers, charging equipment providers, and service providers, the center will accelerate the resolution of compatibility issues and support the deployment of advanced technologies such as Plug & Charge and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G).
The opening ceremony brought together more than 100 leaders from industry, government, and research, underscoring the importance of collaboration in shaping the future of e-mobility. From CharIN, Jacques Borremans, Managing Director Asia, and Min-Jung Lee, Managing Director South Korea, attended in person, while Claas Bracklo, Chairman of CharIN, shared a virtual statement recognizing the significance of this achievement.
As the first Global Interoperability Conformance Test Laboratory designated by CharIN, GiOTEC builds on years of collaboration, including KERI’s active role in hosting CharIN Testivals.
“Since EVs and chargers operate as one system, interoperability is essential. As new charging technologies are introduced in the future, the countries and companies that secure relevant standards will take leadership in the EV market. GiOTEC will provide fast and accurate testing for domestic companies, improving product quality and greatly helping to strengthen export competitiveness.”Namkyun Kim, President of KERI
"Over the past ten years, KERI has been a truly invaluable member of CharIN, contributing with great dedication to the global advancement of e-mobility and charging standardization."Claas Bracklo, Chairman of CharIN
The launch of GiOTEC demonstrates how strong partnerships and shared goals across the e-mobility ecosystem can deliver the reliable, seamless, and interoperable charging experience required to accelerate global EV adoption. KERI aims to continue expanding GiOTEC membership and to become a key institution leading the EV era by promoting collaboration in EV and charger technology development.
