CharIN Tuesday Recap – SAE J3400 Series

In the two 60-minute CharIN Tuesday webinar recordings from March and April 2025, participants learned about the SAE J3400 standard, which is set to reshape North America's EV charging landscape by addressing key challenges in interoperability, reliability, and user experience. The sessions explored the benefits of J3400 over existing standards, including improved durability, enhanced safety features, and faster charging capabilities.

Experts discussed the transition process, the impact on automakers and charging networks, and the necessary infrastructure upgrades. The webinars also covered potential U.S. federal and state policy and regulatory changes resulting from the standardization of SAE J3400, as well as broader policy impacts from the new U.S. administration. Additional insights were shared on the CharIN North America Policy Committee’s plans for 2025.
