CharIN opens an office in the MENA region – Ahmed Samir Elbermbali appointed Managing Director MENA

This next chapter was started at the EVIS2023, the second edition of the Electric Vehicle Innovation Summit that took place end of May 2023 in Abu Dhabi. CharIN has supported the event again as a Knowledge Partner with an own info booth, panel participation and stakeholder meetings.

What we see now is a huge transformation to low carbon transportation and it is very important that we continue in the transition and make sure that we have the right standards in place to ensure interoperability. The role that CharIN is very essential and I’m very glad to be the representative in the region.”

The Middle East region is vulnerable to climate change due to several geographical and economic reasons. The region is home to many of the major oil-producing countries. Countries across the region are transitioning to clean energy and increasing the share of renewable energy in their grid mix. Cutting the transport emissions is at the core of this clean energy transition.

Main market challenges are public awareness about EVs and the existing infrastructure, lack of policies and incentives across most of the countries in the region, lack of charging infrastructure, and low price of gasoline, mainly due to subsidies.
