“inno2grid, as a driver of the energy and mobility transition, is grateful for hosting the V2G Testival together with CharIN e.V. at EUREF-Campus Berlin. Despite all political uncertainties, the direction is clear: electromobility is gaining momentum. Regulations will need to adapt, and framework conditions will evolve positively. The traditional consumers are becoming active prosumers. The spirit of innovation generated by this event will be a driving force for us in the years to come. We are pleased to welcome international guests and testers and look forward to shaping the future of mobility together.”Alexander Söchtig, COO at inno2grid GmbH
What we tested?
CharIN leads Bilateral BiDi Interoperability Testing, an early-stage, development-focused validation process between a single EV and EVSE. This phase enables debugging, accelerates technical readiness, and ensures reliable communication performance. The event offered a unique platform for testing Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) functionalities based on the ISO 15118-20 communication standard in a real-world setting.
After the event, participants received a feedback survey, its results will be the base of further development at CharIN´s Focus Groups.

Special Activities and Public Day
The highlight of the event was Public Day on October 8, which provided visitors with an in-depth look at real-world V2G testing and deployment. This day drew a wider audience from throughout the e-mobility sector, including business developers, media reps, and industry leaders eager to see the latest advancements in Vehicle to Grid.
The day began with opening words and a warm welcome from Michael Blohm from the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy and Karin Teichmann from EUREF Campus. Their remarks underscored the importance of cross-sector collaboration and innovation in advancing V2G technology.
Michael Keller - CTO at CharIN
Claas Bracklo - Chairmen at CharIN
Dr. Jens Berger - Innovations Manager Business Models Energy Market at BMW
Johannes Pallasch - Head of the National Charging Infrastructure Coordination Center
Attendees then joined a guided CharIN Testival tour led by CharIN’s CTO, Michael Keller, who walked participants through the whole testing environment. The tour showed how charging systems and communication protocols came together in real-world conditions, demonstrating V2G’s potential.
One of the highlights was the Energy Management and Bidirectional Charging session, where Sebastian Wolfsteiner and Fabian Schilf from Schneider Electric discussed the path to interoperability in home applications. Juergen Werneke of Hubject then led a discussion on overcoming interoperability challenges, focusing on practical solutions for industry-wide V2G adoption. Stefan Morscher from The Mobility House further motivated the audience with insights into leading the V2G revolution and connecting cars to market flexibility.
The day concluded with a lively Q&A session and closing words from Michael Keller, leaving participants inspired and informed about the transformative potential of V2G.
“The energy transition requires more than good intentions; it demands scalable, intelligent solutions. Through inno2grid, we combine our technological expertise in energy automation, digital infrastructure, and e-mobility to develop exactly those kinds of solutions. The CharIN V2G Testival 2025 demonstrates how bidirectional charging is becoming a key technology for sustainable energy systems. At Schneider Electric, we drive innovations that not only reduce CO₂ emissions but also deliver strong technical and economic value.”Mike Hughes, CEO DACH at Schneider Electric
