Welcome to the 2nd CharIN EUROPE Conference on June 28, 2022
In cooperation with the Testival host Ekoenergetyka, and the Polish Chamber of E-Mobility Development Association, CharIN has prepared an exciting Conference Day in the framework of the next Testival EUROPE.
Three thematic blocks are on our agenda, each of them consisting of an exciting up-to-date Keynote and a panel discussion that connects to the Keynote.
We will talk about the following topics
- Legal framework for electromobility in Europe
- The Future of Heavy Duty Transport in Europe
- Energy sector transformation and High Power charging infrastructure
We come from High starting the Conference with a Keynote on the "Directions given by the global situation, their impact on the transportation industry, and the implementation of climate policy." Extensive observations will be presented by Mr. Michał Kurtyka, Former Minister of Climate and Environment of Poland and President of COP24.
The first panel will then shed a light on the European regulations as well as on the latest news on AFIR, the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation that shall increase the implementation of Charging infrastructure.
Talking about E-Mobility let´s take a look at the status quo of electric trucks in Europe and the close future of CharIN´s Megawatt Charging System. Daniel Speth from Fraunhofer ISI will share insights of the HoLa project with the audience and the panel discussion will raise the question if Europe is ready for e-trucks.
Keynote number three will focus on the challenges of the energy sector and the grid if more electric charging points are needed. Let´s discuss potential solutions together - We look forward to welcoming you at the 2nd CharIN EUROPE conference.
Agenda and Panelists
Status: June 27th, 2022 (Speaker within the panels in alph. order, subject to change without notice)
Legal framework for electromobility in Europe
Thematic Block 01
Keynote: Directions given by the global situation, their impact on the transportation industry, and the implementation of climate policy
Panel 1: What AFIR could change in international business and government policy?
The European Commission has presented a solid proposal on the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR) ensuring there is sufficient public charging infrastructure to follow the deployment of zero-emission cars.
What is the cost of implementing these technologies in the charging infrastructure? How should we act globally? What is the intention of France which took over the presidency of the European Council with the goal to present a ready directive by June 2022?
Lunch break
The Future of Heavy Duty Transport in Europe
Thematic Block 02
Keynote: Characteristics and required charging infrastructure for Heavy Duty Charging in Europe (Status Quo "HoLa project")
Panel 2: Is Europe ready for e-trucks?
The Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR) dictates directions for the development of recharging infrastructure for electric and hydrogen long-haul transport. Manufacturers, when creating new battery trucks, need new charging technologies such as the Megawatt Charging System (MCS).
Is the entire Europe ready for the next big step? Is there any difference between preparing the ecosystem for the e-truck in Western Europe and the rest of the CEE region? Let´s shed a light on opportunities and challenges.
Coffee Break & Networking time
Energy Sector Transformation and High Power Charging Infrastructure
Thematic Block 03
Keynote: Challenges of the energy sector and their impact on the development of fast charging networks
Panel 3: A holistic Approach to Charging Hubs
Electromobility helps achieve climate goals since it reduces the consumption of fossil fuels. The energy sector is changing towards greener energy and the use of RES.
Is the extension of the charging infrastructure the solution for the massive rollout of zero-emission vehicles? Which role ultra-fast DC charging hubs could play to solve existing challenges and to improve the charging experience for the EV drivers?
Closing remarks, Farewell

The combined Conference and Testival allow our experts to exchange ideas while conformance and interoperability testing will be taking place where electric vehicles, charging stations, electric control units (ECUs), and communication controllers will be involved.
Connect with other CharIN members and hear from industry speakers on how to best tackle the region’s most difficult challenges that arise from building and effectively implementing smart charging.
We look forward to welcoming you at the CharIN Testival & Conference EUROPE!
