The CharIN Testival EUROPE 2024 in France is a hands-on, two-and-a-half-day event organized by CharIN, the non-profit association promoting the interoperability of global charging solutions for all types of electric vehicles (EVs).
The Testival is hosted by VEDECOM, an institute for energy transition, and Mobena, a consortium led by the VEDECOM Institute, providing their facilities and support to conduct the event.
At the CharIN Testival, stakeholders from across the e-mobility value chain come together to test the interoperability of a variety of electric vehicles, charging stations, and communication controllers. The event will focus on improving EV charging standards to help scale EV charging infrastructure and improve the customer experience.

About CharIN
Empowering the next level of green mobility and energy.
We are the leading global association with over 300 members dedicated to promote standards in the field of charging systems for charging EVs of all types in as many parts of the world.
Cross-industry, global, non-profit and holistic ...
Under the CharIN (Charging Interface Initiative e. V.) umbrella, cross-industry stakeholders like automakers, charging station manufacturers, component suppliers, energy providers, grid operators, and many others continue moving towards interoperable charging, where vehicles, chargers, and software systems work together and to make the user experience reliable, easy and smooth.
CharIN´s holistic approach is not limited to passenger cars. Its international community is comprised of leading global companies representing every link to the e-mobility value chain and multiple experts who have been working together as a team to drive the requirements of charging all kinds of electric vehicles.
Besides several further topics and activities, during the last three years, a special Task Force has been extending the scope to Commercial Vehicles and thus, setting requirements and standards for the development of the Megawatt Charging System (MCS). In the close future, the MCS shall also be used to charge other heavy-duty vehicles like e-ferries, ships, and planes.
CharIN is a non-profit organization and open to any company worldwide being involved in the business around e-mobility.
CharIN´s next goal is to define requirements for the evolution of CCS (Combined Charging System) related standards and for the certification of CCS based products.

About VEDECOM
VEDECOM is an R&D Institute dedicated to sustainable and innovative mobility. A public-private foundation aiming to accelerate the transition towards sustainable mobility by acting on mobility systems and usages. It is covering five research and development programs:
- electromobility and energy optimization
- automated vehicles, data and connected infrastructure
- attractive and inclusive multimodal mobility
- mobility impact analysis
- the Intermediate Light Vehicle sector.
Launched in 2014, VEDECOM has established itself as a mobility ecosystem federator, gathering the automobile sector, operators, digital and telecoms, territories, valorization, energy, infrastructures, academics, schools and institutes, as well as service providers.
VEDECOM is adopting a systemic approach of mobilities. Its projects integrate needs collect and analysis, technological innovation, economic viability study and social acceptability. VEDECOM is a member of FIT and is supported by France2030.
About Mobena
Mobena is a consortium led by the VEDECOM Institute, uniting stakeholders across the electric vehicle charging value chain in a cross-sectoral manner (e-mobility, building & infrastructure, energy). Its aim is to achieve a harmonized deployment of interoperable charging technologies and services across Europe, and to facilitate the adoption of electric vehicles through high-value-added services.
